Aussie Peptide Co (“we”, “us”) is an Australian business supplying research peptides to laboratories and researchers. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it and how you can access or correct it.
1. What we collect
- Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address.
- Order information: products purchased, order history, payment method and reference (we never see or store full card numbers).
- Research context: where you provide it, the nature of your laboratory or institution, used only to assess eligibility.
- Account details: login email and a hashed password if you create an account.
- Technical data: IP address, approximate location, browser and device type, pages visited and referring site, collected through cookies and standard server logs.
- Communications: emails, form submissions, phone notes and product requests.
2. How we collect it
Directly from you when you place an order, create an account, submit a form or contact us; automatically through cookies and analytics when you browse; and from our service providers such as Australia Post (delivery status) and payment providers (payment confirmation).
3. Why we use it
- To process, pack, ship and support your orders and to send order, payment and tracking emails.
- To verify eligibility and comply with our research-use-only policy and legal obligations.
- To answer enquiries, product requests and claims.
- To send newsletters and restock alerts if you opt in. You can unsubscribe from every email with one click.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access.
- To understand how the website is used and improve it.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where necessary to run the business: Australia Post and our packaging partners for delivery; payment providers for payment confirmation; our website hosting, email and analytics providers; our order-management system; and professional advisers. We disclose information to government bodies or law enforcement where required by law. We never sell or rent your personal information.
5. Overseas disclosure
Some service providers, such as email delivery and analytics platforms, store data on servers outside Australia. Where this occurs we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider handles your information in a way consistent with the APPs.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies to run the cart and checkout, and analytics cookies to measure how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the cart and checkout require cookies to function.
7. Security
The website is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption. Access to personal information is restricted to staff who need it, protected by access controls and logged. If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
8. Retention
Order and tax records are kept for at least seven years as required by Australian tax law. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Abandoned-cart and session data is deleted automatically within 30 days. Other information is deleted or de-identified when no longer needed.
9. Your rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent to marketing at any time by emailing contact@aussiepeptideco.com. We respond within 30 days and do not charge for reasonable requests.
10. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your information, contact us first and we will investigate and reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, is always published on this page.
